Dr. Larry J. Maturani, MD

Dr. Maturani attended medical school in Grenada, West Indies and finished his training at Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed residency at Northeast Hospital Internal Medicine Program in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. Prior to coming to Morehead City, he spent his time working as a traveling physician but in March 2021 he became employed as a staff physician with Cape Fear Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC. He is also on staff at Penn Highlands in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. In June, 2024 after searching for several years, Dr. Maturani purchased Dr. Alonzo Davis’s practice in Morehead City, NC. Formerly known as Dr. Alonzo’s Internal Medicine, the practice is now known as Atlantic Coast Medical Center. Dr. Alonzo is still with us and he has no plans on retirement. We have most of the same staff and have added two highly qualified nurse practitioners. Currently we are remodeling our office and updating the equipment. As our practice expands, we plan on incorporating many new services. I would like to personally invite you to pay us a visit and I look forward to meeting you in the future.

The Risks of Not Having a Primary Care Provider

=

Delayed Diagnosis and Treatment

Without regular check-ups, many health conditions can go unnoticed until they become serious. High blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease are just a few examples of illnesses that often have no symptoms until they reach advanced stages.

=

Increased Emergency Room Visits

Many people who don’t have a primary care doctor end up relying on emergency rooms or urgent care centers for conditions that could have been prevented or treated earlier. This leads to higher medical costs, longer wait times, and fragmented care.

=

Lack of Preventative Care

Preventative screenings and early interventions save lives. Conditions such as cancer, high cholesterol, and osteoporosis can be caught early before they cause serious complications. A primary care provider ensures you receive timely screenings, vaccinations, and health guidance.

=

Poorly Managed Chronic Conditions

If you have diabetes, hypertension, asthma, or other chronic conditions, consistent management is crucial. Skipping regular visits can result in complications that affect your quality of life and long-term health.

The Benefits of Primary Care and Walk-In Urgent Care Services

Having access to both primary care and walk-in urgent care at one location means you get:

R

Consistent, ongoing care for chronic and preventative health needs

R

Quick access to treatment when you’re sick or injured

R

Comprehensive medical services without the need for multiple providers

R

A team that knows your medical history and can provide personalized care

By offering both routine primary care and urgent sick visits, we ensure that your healthcare is convenient, affordable, and accessible—when you need it most.
